Annual B Corp Assembly, pro bono partnerships, and welcoming the newbies — here’s everything that happened at Young Folks in February.

As we wrap up the shortest month of the year, it’s with a profound sense of purpose and pride that we share our latest updates.

At the heart of everything we do lies a simple yet powerful goal: to untrash the planet so the next generation of young folks has a bright future. And in a world where environmental and social challenges loom large, our mission serves as a guiding light, inspiring us to take bold action and drive meaningful change. That’s what February (and every month, ha!) has been all about.

Here at Young Folks, we believe that every effort, no matter how small, contributes to a larger movement toward a more sustainable and equitable world. It’s this shared commitment that unites us as a team and propels us forward in our collective journey.

With this ethos in mind, let’s delve into the highlights and achievements that defined our February.

Welcoming the newbies

In January, we wrapped up recruitment for a bunch of new roles. And in February, we’re thrilled to announce the newest additions to our team! Surej joins us as a talented graphic designer, Heather as our dedicated studio assistant, Hatim brings his expertise as a performance marketing specialist, and Ella steps into the role of marketing coordinator. Not even a month in and these legends are already kicking goals and the banter is flowing. We’re excited to see the incredible contributions they’ll bring to our team.

B Corp Assembly

Spending three jam-packed days at B Corp Assembly was a major February highlight. Part conference, and part retreat, B Corp Assembly is a gathering of minds dedicated to using business as a force for good. And Kali and Erin were soaking up every second. Immersed in a community of like-minded individuals, they returned energised and inspired, armed with new insights and new pals, and ready to advance our mission.

Moving on up

If you caught our January recap, you would have seen us share Taylah’s promotion announced with a headline paired with this tune? So it felt quite fitting to roll it out again to celebrate Ami’s recent promotion to marketing specialist. Ami’s journey from our grad program to this pivotal role exemplifies our belief in the power of growth and development and our commitment to nurturing talent and driving excellence. Ami’s growth mindset, willingness to step outside the comfort zone, and the way she embraces continuous innovation has been nothing short of incredible to watch. Plus she’s kicked some major goals for clients from traffic-boosting SEO strategies to high performing email marketing — just to name a few!

Celebrating the wins on #sparkles

We run a hybrid model across two studios, which means it’s not too often that our whole team is all in the one room. This means we’ve invested heavily in our virtual infrastructure to ensure our culture is maintained across the wires and wavelengths. One of our favourite ways to stay connected and cultivate that all important growth mindset is our #sparkles Slack channel. And in February, it’s been blowing up with glitter-laden gifs as the team celebrates each other’s achievements. From exciting new business and stellar client feedback to epic campaign performance and positive impact, these moments of triumph keep us feeling inspired and motivated. And, as Young Folks Girl says, ‘everyone deserves to know when they’re slaying’.

Pro bono partnerships

Our commitment to creating positive change includes dedicating 5% of our time to pro bono work for emerging grassroots charities and NFPs. We’re proud to wrap up our successful partnership with Rainforest Rescue, where we produced impactful video content, implemented strategic email marketing automations, and levelled up a Google Ads Grants account. As we transition to our next partnership with Seed Mob, we look forward to continued collaboration in making a difference.

What’s next

As we bid farewell to February, we carry the spirit of optimism and determination forward into the months ahead. With every step we take, whether welcoming new team members, celebrating wins, or forging partnerships, we edge closer to our vision of a better planet for the next generation. Let’s remember the words of Margaret Mead: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.’ With our collective efforts and unwavering dedication, we can indeed change the world — for the better.
