Studio news: July recap

Find out everything that happened at Young Folks in July, from new clients and team members to an office move.
What happened in july at the young folks digital marketing studio

If the office phone rang just a few rings longer than normal before someone picked it up, it’s because July was a big month. Wow. With prep for our upcoming inclusive advertising event and an office move to welcoming a new member and some exciting new clients — here’s our July recap.

Meet Adele

We are stoked to have a new addition to our client services team as we welcomed senior account manager Adele Biondo last month. With a background in both the digital side as well as branding and creative side, she’s hit the ground running with client management, getting to know the team, and working on some epic new business proposals.

We’re so thrilled to have you join us Adele!

Time for a (big) new studio!

We made the move to the Commons Cremorne earlier this year, but with our growing team, the four-person cubicle was getting just a bit too cosy on our in-studio days.

Now we’ve taken over a beautiful (spacious) new corner spot at the Commons (hello, natural light), with big windows letting in that glorious, albeit rare, winter sunshine and fresh air. Plus views of Cremorne’s stunning industrial laneways and street art. We (and our indoor plants) are so pleased!

As a creative team, having a space where we can both collaborate with ease and work independently (without too many distractions) is so important. The team is already loving the new digs.

Come along to our inclusive marketing event

We’ve teamed up with Queer Town to conduct a survey on LGBTIQA+ representation in advertising and we’ve created a practical guide to help brands, marketers and agencies get it right.

We’re releasing the findings and launching the guide with a free event including panel discussion next week. Hear from experts including Queer Town founder Archie Beetle (they/them), 2020 AGDA emerging designer of the year Amery Oke-Johnston, and copywriter, comedian and creative Emily Weir (they/them) who will unpack our survey findings on current LGBTIQA+ representation in advertising, share their personal perspectives, and provide actionable advice on how brands, agencies, and marketers can get LGBTIQA+ representation right.

The event takes place on Thursday 8 August 5.30pm – 7.30pm at our digs at The Commons, Cremorne. Spots are being snapped up fast. This is your last chance to grab your free tickets.

Welcoming new clients

We’re welcoming a bunch of new inspiring clients this month. Our team can’t wait to get stuck into the work, ranging from CRM projects to ads campaigns and branding projects.

Here are some of the new clients we’re partnering with:

RSPCA. We’re helping Australia’s biggest animal welfare charity with their annual Christmas Appeal campaign.

Kilvington Grammar. We’re assisting this co-ed school with a GA4 data analytics and tracking project.

– Harlen. We’re working on a brand identity for a new business Harlen, a handcrafted cabinetry business with an impactful twist.

Creative Natives. We’re working on a CRM project for our mates at the recruitment agency Creative Natives.

Minor Figures. Oat milk lovers, this one’s for you: we’re welcoming Minor Figures as a paid media retainer client.

Working from afar

As part of being a workplace that supports flexible work, we have a work from anywhere policy of up to six weeks every year. With the European summer in full swing (and Melbourne temperatures in or nearing single digits), our content coordinator Julia left on her yearly trip home to the northern hemisphere to Finland to spend time with her friends and family.

Here’s what she says about her trip: ‘Finnish summer is short and sweet and a truly magical time in the north. We’ve got up to 20 hours of daylight every day — it makes waking up early to get some overlapping time with the team across different time zones easy! Working the mornings and spending afternoons and long evenings with friends and family doing all the things I miss has been amazing. I’m so grateful to be able to combine work and living a ‘normal’ life back in my other home for a little bit.’
