It’s safe to say that October has been a month of big moves for the team at Young Folks. From taking on a fresh new challenge with a cheeky campaign to celebrating two SmartCompany award nominations, there’s been plenty to cheer about.
We’ve also been rolling up our sleeves on some exciting new projects and client partnerships, including fresh strategy updates and charity campaigns gearing up for the holiday season.
Read on to get the full scoop on our latest wins, new collaborations, and why our strategy decks are about to look better than ever.
Ask Pearl took aim at agencies on the F-List
What’s the best way to respond when a list of agencies working with fossil fuel clients gets released? Launch a cheeky campaign that takes awareness of the issue even further, of course. Following the release of this year’s F-List, a global initiative by Clean Creatives, supported locally by Comms Declare, that highlights agencies working with fossil fuel companies, we saw an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the problem. Enter Ask Pearl, our parody agony aunt advice column.
The campaign highlights the hypocrisy and lack of transparency in our industry, encouraging brands to have ‘the talk’ with their agencies. Each letter — and subsequent advice piece — represents a brand grappling with the reality that their agency, while promoting sustainability, is also working with fossil fuel giants.
Ask Pearl has already garnered media attention in AdNews and B&T, but we’re just getting started — keep an eye on the Ask Pearl socials for more updates.
We’re nominated for two SmartCompany awards
We’ll be the first to admit awards aren’t everything, but it’s pretty darn affirming for an indie agency like us to get shortlisted for not just one, but two SmartCompany #Smart50 awards. We landed a spot on the nominee list for the Marketing and People Power categories — two areas we’re immensely proud to excel at (our people and culture and our marketing prowess, for those who are new around here).
The SmartCompany #Smart50 awards is a long-running annual celebration of the fastest-growing Australian SMEs, and we’re stoked to be shortlisted alongside some other brands doing great things. We’ll be waiting with bated breath for the awards night next week.
Our strategies are getting a glow up
Every quarter, our team gathers for a Young Folks strategy day. This time, it was all about refreshing our processes. Given our shift to a full-service agency, we took the opportunity to update our strategy decks, making them look (and perform) even better than they already do.
Our performance, content, creative, and account management teams teamed up to refine areas that needed a little TLC, resulting in upgraded, brand, content, and performance strategy decks. So, if you’ve been thinking about locking in some strategy work ahead of 2025, now’s the perfect time.
The Christmas campaigns have begun
Our performance team has been hard at work launching Christmas campaigns for some of our charity clients. For charities, the holiday season is a critical period for donations, and we’re excited to be part of the action (even if it means a very busy few weeks ahead).
So, if you’ve already started thinking about your holiday shopping, why not make it extra meaningful this year? Consider donating to aligned charities on behalf of your loved ones, and give a gift that does good, with no risk of being added to landfill.
Welcome to our new clients
This month, we’ve got another round of new clients we’re stoked to introduce. They include:
- Finders Keepers Market, Australia’s most-loved design marketplace helping people discover the very best from local designers, makers, and entrepreneurs. We’ll be tackling an audit and strategy refresh for them across their brand, content, and marketing.
- Oval & Pear, a bespoke jewellery brand with a flair for Australian sapphires. We’ll be working on a paid media strategy — and ad design masters to help them implement it.
- Domain, an Australian property marketplace helping Australians across every step of their property journey. We’ll be teaming up with the Domain team for a strategic content project.
And that’s a wrap on another exciting month at Young Folks. If you’ve got big plans for 2025 and need help levelling up your brand identity, launching a campaign, or working on a new strategy, reach out to see how we can help you get there.
