Studio news: September recap

The very first Young Folks branded OOH campaign, a brand new monthly newsletter, and a bunch of new clients — here’s everything that happened at Young Folks in September.
Grass and a blue sky with clouds

Imagine this: You open your inbox and see an enquiry from your all-time dream client (one you’ve manifested for years). What do you do? Immediately jump on Slack to share the news with the team? Carefully start crafting a response that’s nothing less than perfect? Embark on yet another deep dive of their brand and socials (that you already know inside out)? Or, all of the above?

This happened at the Young Folks studio in September, and if you can’t tell, we’re very excited.

Last month, we also launched our first Young Folks branded OOH campaign as well as a brand new monthly newsletter. Read all about this, plus why the team was snacking on popcorn at the Palace Cinemas at 9am on a Tuesday, on this month’s studio recap.

Our very first YF branded OOH campaign

There’s something special about seeing your work off the screen, and this month we saw the very first Young Folks branded OOH campaign in the streets of Melbourne. Following the release of Beyond Rainbows, our inclusive marketing guide made in collaboration with Queer Town, we created eye-catching posters featuring responses we gathered through our survey on the state of LGBTIQA+ representation in marketing and advertising.

We were stoked to see this come to life, drawing much-needed attention to the work that needs to be done to achieve authentic LGBTIQA+ representation in marketing and advertising.

Ad posters plastered on a wall, featuring Young Folks posters promoting our Beyond Rainbows campaign.

A brand new newsletter, and why BFCM will be bigger than ever this year

Like most folks working in marketing, our founder Erin is always reading up on all the latest in the world of marketing, creative, and content (and you can tell from her daily screen time). So, in September, we launched our inaugural founder musings newsletter, where Erin shares her valuable insights every month.

This first edition is a must-read for everyone who wants to get their BFCM campaigns just right (and not feel the pain in December and January). You can read this month’s edition here and subscribe to receive our newsletters below.

Team attends Pinterest Presents 2024

If you invite us to a screening at Palace Cinemas on a Tuesday morning, you can absolutely guarantee we’ll be there, popcorn in hand. Ami, Taylah, and Sanam recently attended Pinterest Presents in South Yarra to catch the latest performance tools and capabilities of Pinterest.

Pinterest is a social media platform genuinely interested in wellbeing, described by most of its users as the most positive social media platform. It’s also heavily skewed to a Gen Z audience, with 70% of all Gen Z women in the world on it.

The platform’s great for organic reach and performance, but more recently it has put more emphasis on paid and performance marketing, with many world-leading brands like JP Morgan, Nestle, and Ruggable seeing amazing results through paid ads.

Pinterest has also introduced a range of new shopping features and tools to drive engagement and paid performance, including collages, shoppable ads, and a new suite of performance solutions powered by AI and automation.

Welcome to our new clients

This month, we’ve got another round of new clients we’re stoked to introduce. They include:

  • Enduring Domain Architecture is a sustainable architecture firm based in Ballarat, Victoria. We’re helping them with a content strategy and website project.
  • Portable is a design and technology agency helping governments agencies and purpose-driven organisations. We’re working on a GA4 implementation and Google Ads strategy for them.
  • White Fox Tattoo Studio is a vegan, queer, and neurodiverse-friendly tattoo studio in Nunawading. We’re helping them with a social media and paid ads strategy, and design.

With less than three months ‘til Christmas, the studio is buzzing with end-of-year campaigns and some new projects. Drop us a line if you’re looking for some last-minute help on a campaign this year or the kind of ultra organised person who’s already booking in their projects for 2025 (we love you).
