The client

Mount Zero Olives needs no introduction in the Australian culinary scene. The olive oils from the family-owned grove on the edge of the Grampians have a cult following among foodies and top restaurants alike. Planted in the 1940s, the olive grove is one of the oldest in Australia. Today, Mount Zero practises biodynamic farming techniques and has the international Demeter certification. The grove is self-sustaining in its farming practices — the trees are fed directly from the soil humus rather than chemical inputs, and energy is sourced from off-grid wind and solar generators.

The brief

Despite their success with upscale restaurants and independent retailers, Mount Zero faced the challenge of scaling up their direct-to-consumer (DTC) offering in a competitive online market. They needed a solid performance marketing strategy to boost online sales and expand their reach, using both paid advertising and organic search efforts.

The solution

We developed a 360-degree performance marketing strategy for Mount Zero, starting with an in-depth analysis of their existing online presence and market positioning. Our strategy included performance marketing campaigns across Google Ads (search and shopping) and Meta Ads, using a full-funnel approach that included dynamic retargeting to maximise conversion rates.

We also implemented an SEO strategy to boost organic search rankings. We optimised website content, focusing on high-impact long tail keywords, and briefed the development team on improving site speed and user experience — as well as also producing engaging, SEO-friendly content to highlight the unique story and biodynamic practices behind Mount Zero.

This effort both spiked D2C sales and fortified their B2B partnerships. As a result, Mount Zero achieved an impressive average ROAS of 6.39x for the year and captured leads through first-party data at an average CPL of $3.34 — a staggering 156% below Meta’s benchmark of $8.56.
